The Avengers Movie Review
The Avengers is
one of 2012’s most awaited films. And if you are one of those eagerly waiting
to see it on the big screen, you won’t be disappointed. The Avengers is a film
with a good combination of action, drama and humor as well as special effects.
Director Joss Whedon really did a great job in bringing together all these
characters from different films and be able to make them work on a single
project.
The Avengers are
already famous. They first came to light on the pages of Marvel Comics. When
news broke out that all the actors from Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and
Hulk will be joining together for The Avengers movie, everyone just got excited
at the idea. Now, excitement is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak.
The film is
filled with a lot of visual effects as expected. The visuals used were really
well made and edited. The studio spared no expense in creating the villains,
the explosions, the floating S.H.I.E.L.D. carrier, the heroes and The Hulk. In
this film, the effects are just one part of the story. Unlike some films out
there who uses the effects to be the story, the effects in the Avengers help mould
the story.
Sometimes it is
a difficult task bringing together actors from different films together in one
movie. As far as I know, this is the first time that has happened on a big
scale. But Whedon did a remarkable job in joining these different actors
together. Each actor shines on his/her own but never gets overshadowed by the
other actors when they are together in a scene. Each character has a spotlight
moment and you will remember all of them. Even the villain Loki has a lot of
memorable moments but for me, the Hulk grabs it all.
Cinematography
is also one key element in the film. And this was handled well. Whedon
delivered great scenes and great camera angles which suited each of the action
sequences and dialogue scenes in the film. Whedon really has a good eye and
that is why he has tons of fans, myself included.
The plot of the
film is simple. An alien force is trying to invade our world and these heroes
band together to save us from total annihilation. But the film goes beyond
that. It focuses on the heroes and how they overcome their differences. The
film is about how they became the Avengers and all the hardships they had to
get past to become Earth’s mightiest heroes. It also tackles each of the
character’s weak spot. What troubles them, what motivates them and their trust
issues are all presented in the film.
The film wasn’t
perfect. It still has flaws like there are parts where a scene might become
dull. But all of that is covered by the rest of the best things it offers. And
like all Marvel films, you will get shocked at the twists and excited for what
comes next. Like a purple villain planning his revenge on our heroes.
All of that makes
this comic book movie one hell of a ride. It is fun and will definitely make
the crowd roar in laughter and excitement. You will love the film for the
spotlight scenes they give to each character. I recommend you watch it in 3D to
add more life to the effects and the action sequences.
The Avengers is
worth the wait. It is a film I will see again and again soon. It is fun, sticks
true to the comic books in a sense and it tells a good story. I highly
recommend you watch it with family and friends to share the laughter so to
speak.
The Avengers
assembles and dishes out one of the best films of the year. I just had a great
time. I give it 9 out of 10.
