Fast Five Movie Review
Fast Five is a film that really packs a mean punch. The film is filled with great action sequences, stunts and things that you know are impossible. That’s what makes this film a success.
Fast Five is what it is and don’t try to be something else. It’s got twists and turns, laughs, explosions and rapid gun fire. It is a film made for anyone who just wants to have a good time at the movies. In short, it’s a film that works.
The film has a cast that everyone wanted to see together again. It features all the major and minor characters from the previous four films. We got Vin Diesel reprising his role as Dominic Toretto, Paul Walker as Brian O’Connor and the sexy Jordana Brewster as Dominic’s sister Mia. Adding to that power trio are Tyrese Gibson and Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges as Roman Pearce and Tej Parker both from 2 Fast 2 Furious, Matt Schulze as Vince from the first film, Sung Kang as Han Lue from Tokyo Drift and the sexy Gal Gadot as Gisele Harabo. This cast brought all they had and it made the film great. The film’s villains are also a great addition. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a perfect match against Diesel. Luke Hobbs is a hero and villain both at the same time. And The Rock pulls it off well. The Rock delivers a solid performance in this film. Experience a great fight scene between The Rock and Diesel. It is one of the highlights of the film. Spanish actress Elsa Pataky gives a great performance as Elena Neves, one of the rookie Rio cops recruited by Hobbs. She portrays the character with grace and a sense of weakness and strength. We see a woman who has a troubled past but we also see a woman who has fears. The main villain in the film is played by the great Joaquim de Almeida. He plays Hernan Reyes. De Almeida portrays Reyes with calm with a touch of terror. We get to see a businessman at first then a menacing crime boss the next.
The film has a lot of great aspects. Director Justin Lin really prepared for this film and it paid off. The camera movement was done pretty well. The audiences well get to see different points of views. From the driver’s, to the cars, to the enemy, the camera takes us to different angles and views which makes the film more interactive. The location is great as well. What can I say; Rio is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. The film’s cinematography was delivered well. There is a great balance in light and darkness, flashes and shadows. The special effects were well delivered as well. The car chases and destruction was like a well performed symphony. The action is part of the story and not the story as some other films fail to remember. The sequences created to make those scenes possible is no short of amazing.
The film is fast, tough and enjoyable. It is not just pure serious action. We get a lot of laughs as well which balances the entire film. Fast Five is a film of preposterous action scenes, explosions and driving. But we don’t care if we all know that those things are impossible in real life. We don’t care because we enjoyed it. Fast Five delivers a solid action film that everyone will enjoy.
Fast Five is a full throttle film which showed no signs of stopping when it starts. And it even has a great cliff hanger scene at the end which fans will forward to. It is a film worth watching and I intend to watch it again because I like to immerse myself in the world of Dominic Toretto and his fast cars once again. I give it 9 out of 10.
i enjoyed this film very much! can't wait to watch it again.
